The environment which we are integrally reliant upon needs to be healthy to sustain us and our future generations as well as all other plants and animals we share the environment with. Over the last 150 years we have caused huge damage to the land, forests and waterways of Aotearoa and the Coromandel/Hauraki region. While small steps have been taken to restore the health of this environment, so much more needs to be done before it slips into a state from which it can’t recover.
As part of the Green Party, I will campaign for
- Cleaning up Tikapa Moana/Firth of Thames and combating ocean acidification
- Higher water quality standards in our lakes and rivers, such as the Waihou and the Piako
- Better funding for management of public conservation land
- Keeping mining out of the Coromandel
- Supporting farmers to practice more sustainable farming methods
- Meaningful action to combat climate change, cutting greenhouse emissions by 40% by 2030 and investing in a greener economy, while ensuring we take steps now to adapt our communities and infrastructure to the climate changes and sea level rise we know is certain.

Campaigning for a resilient and sustainable environment
